Wild Lakenham

Wild Lakenham began in October 2022 with the simple idea of organising a one-off community litter pick. The turnout was fantastic, and the enthusiasm inspired us to do more. Before long, we had taken on the care of the abandoned orchard on Cooper Lane, secured lottery funding to restore it, and became a fully constituted group — complete with a bank account and all! In January 2026 we registered as a charity in England and Wales.

Wild Lakenham works closely with Norwich City Council (as part of their Outdoor Projects Network), the Norwich Fringe Project, the Walk Wheel Cycle Trust (formerly Sustrans), and our amazing volunteers to care for and improve the wild green spaces of Old Lakenham.

We’re a completely volunteer-led group, and all of our trustees live right here on the Old Lakenham estate. Together, we celebrate our wonderful community and the beautiful green spaces that make it so special.

We hold practical work sessions on the first Sunday of each month, from 10am -12pm. Details are given on the Events page and everyone is welcome, although people aged under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
